Semiconductor manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) announced May 4 the appointment of Collette LaForce as SVP and CMO, effective May 14. LaForce will replace Nigel Dessau, AMD’s former CMO, who left the company Dec. 2011.
“She will be responsible for reshaping AMD’s global marketing efforts, amplifying the company’s voice and helping to position the business for growth,” says AMD’s senior manager of corporate public relations Mike Silverman.
LaForce arrives from Dell, where she served as global VP and CMO of the Dell Services business unit. Prior to joining Dell, LaForce spent nearly a decade in Silicon Valley in marketing and communications leadership roles, serving as VP and head of global marketing at SGI (formerly Rackable Systems); director of marketing at Lightspeed Venture Partners; director of brand and image campaigns at Xpedior Inc.; and marketing & communications manager in the office of the CEO at Accenture.
LaForce will report to Rory Read, AMD’s President and CEO.
In their search, AMD used a recruiter to review both internal and external candidates.
