BillingZone.com, Pittsburgh, yesterday introduced a business-to-business invoice and transaction service called Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment.
BillingZone is a joint venture of Perot Systems Corp. and PNC Financial Services Group Inc. The system is designed to save companies time processing transactions and to save money on paper costs.
Through the service, the payee sends invoice data to BillingZone, which transmits the payer an e-mail notification. In response, the payer can review the invoice at a secured Web page and route the information to its accounts payable department.
When payment approvals are received at BillingZone.com, the site forwards payment instructions, and the bill is settled through an automated clearinghouse transaction between the banks designated by the two firms involved. The payee is sent an e-mail notification whenever the payer has disputes about a bill.
Companies can join the service at BillingZone.com. The service will be available at third-party Web sites yet to be announced. Pricing for the service was not made available.
