Thai police seek Singaporean man after girlfriend found dead in Bangkok condo, suspect believed to have fled to Singapore

Thai police have launched a manhunt for a Singaporean man suspected in the death of his Thai girlfriend, Praopilat Paladon, whose body was discovered in a condominium unit in Bangkok on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Two friends of the victim found her lifeless after losing contact since Monday evening, as reported by the Bangkok Post. While the cause of death awaits autopsy results, authorities are treating the case as suspicious and have identified her boyfriend, Daniel, a 32-year-old Singaporean, as the primary suspect.

Daniel left the scene on Tuesday afternoon, with his current whereabouts unknown, according to The Straits Times. Thai police have contacted Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assistance in locating him, though no extradition process has been confirmed. “Thai police have indicated they are coordinating with Singaporean authorities,” a source familiar with the investigation noted, though details remain limited.

The incident occurred at the Marque condominium in Watthana district, central Bangkok. Two friends, concerned after Praopilat stopped responding since Monday evening, visited her unit with police assistance and found her body wrapped in a blood-stained blanket, with head wounds visible. Emergency services confirmed her death at the scene, prompting a death investigation.

CCTV footage, detailed by Channel News Asia, showed the couple together in the building from Sunday night, March 23, when they returned at 9:17 pm, to Monday morning, March 24, when Daniel re-entered at 12:12 am. On Tuesday, March 25, he was seen leaving with luggage at 3:15 pm, driving off in a black Mercedes-Benz registered to a deceased Thai man. The victim had previously reported frequent fights and violence to her family, sending photos of bruises to her mother.

Police have confirmed the romantic relationship, with Praopilat’s mother describing Daniel as her daughter’s “husband,” indicating a long-term partnership. Investigators are reconstructing the timeline, with forensic teams examining the condominium unit for evidence. Luxury watches and handbags belonging to Praopilat were reported missing, adding a potential theft angle to the case.

The case’s international dimension has drawn attention, underscoring challenges in cross-border investigations. Thai officials have emphasized their determination to resolve the case and urged anyone with information to contact Thong Lor police station.

As the investigation continues, this remains a developing story. Updates will follow as new details emerge from Thai and Singaporean authorities.
