Letter: Companies Should Desist From Contributing to CA’s

“We don’t differentiate between Disney and Viagra,” Sen. Kevin Murray told The New York Times recently. “If you go out and rent a list of e-mail addresses, by definition you are not a legitimate business. You are the person we are trying to stop.”

Murray, Democratic state senator from Los Angeles, has decreed that any business that rents a list of e-mail addresses is illegitimate. It follows that such businesses should be prohibited from doing business in, employing residents of and paying taxes to the state of California.

I encourage all such “illegitimate businesses,” which I imagine includes the vast majority of the Fortune 1000, to take heed and cease and desist from contributing in any way to the revenue stream of said state. I’m sure this will benefit the citizens of the state as they endeavor to dig themselves our from under their stupendous deficit.
