On the morning of April 16, 2025, many Spotify users found themselves facing unexpected silence as the music streaming giant experienced a significant outage.
Reports began surfacing around 8:45 a.m. ET, with users across Europe and the United States unable to load the app, stream music, or access their playlists. According to Downdetector, over 48,000 users reported issues, highlighting the widespread nature of the disruption.
Spotify acknowledged the problem via its official status account on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!”
Users reported various issues, including the app failing to load. Some desktop users encountered black screens or songs that would not play.
This outage serves as a reminder of how reliant users have become on streaming platforms for entertainment and how quickly frustrations can arise when those services falter.
