The Metris Direct Services unit of Metris Companies Inc., St. Louis Park, MN, said yesterday it will sell two of its consumer credit services to a customer file owned by direct marketing service firm Madison Direct Marketing Ltd., Greenwich, CT. Metris plans to use the file to market DirectAlert, a service that gives members copies of their credit bureau reports, and Fraud Alert Services, a program designed to protect consumers’ credit and debit cards in case they are stolen. Marketing efforts are to begin in November. The companies did not disclose the size of the customer file.
