Robert A. Bisselle, who was a founder of the National Postal Forum in 1968 and later served as president and chairman of the trade group, died of cancer Nov. 1 in his Bethesda, MD, home, according to the Washington Post. He was 77.
Bisselle worked 34 years at several banks in the Washington area. His career included positions with Wachovia Bank in North Carolina for 10 years in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He later held positions with First National Bank and Suburban Bank.
In 1983, he was named executive vice president and a member of the board of directors of Women’s National Bank of Washington. Later that year, he was elected executive vice president and chief administrative officer of JML Communications Inc. JML is a subsidiary of James Madison Ltd., the holding company of Madison National Bank. He retired in 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Frances B. Bisselle of Bethesda; four children, Mary Beth Bisselle of Bethesda, Kathryn Bisselle of Rockville, MD, Thad Bisselle of Gaithersburg, MD, and Robert Bisselle of Boyds, MD; a sister, Shirley Toll of Chevy Chase, MD; a brother, Dr. Charles Bisselle of McLean, VA; and seven grandchildren.
