Time Life to stop using Lillian Vernon for fulfillment

Time Life Music and Books will discontinue third-party fulfillment operations with Lillian Vernon Corp. from Aug. 31.

The move will affect approximately 230 employees at Lillian Vernon’s headquarters in Virginia Beach, VA.

“We moved our corporate offices to Virginia Beach in the fall, and we will continue to reap the rewards from the improvements we have made in the efficiency and organization of our fulfillment operations,” Mike Muoio, CEO of Lillian Vernon, said in a statement.

Lillian Vernon has provided order processing, warehousing, distribution and call center services to Time Life since the first quarter of 2004.

Time Life and Lillian Vernon were previously owned by the same entity — Direct Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Ripplewood Holdings, until Lillian Vernon was sold to Sun Capital Partners Inc. in May 2006.

Time Life’s decision was driven by the desire to consolidate its operations with its new parent company, Reader’s Digest. On March 5, Ripplewood Holdings acquired Reader’s Digest.
