Jumia Technologies AG, Africa’s prominent e-commerce platform, has launched a new 6,000-square-meter warehouse in Tema, Ghana, to enhance logistics and shorten delivery times across the country. This expansion aligns with Jumia’s strategy to boost e-commerce growth and operational efficiency across African markets, following similar expansions in Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, and Cote d’Ivoire. The new warehouse in Tema significantly boosts Jumia’s storage capacity, enhancing supply chain efficiency, reducing delivery times, and strengthening its position as Ghana’s top online shopping destination.

Strategically located, the facility provides access to key transport routes, supporting efficient nationwide distribution. Francis Dufay, CEO of Jumia, stated that the expansion underscores Jumia Ghana’s success and commitment to the Ghanaian market. He emphasized that the enhanced logistics infrastructure strengthens Jumia’s ability to address evolving customer needs and support e-commerce growth.

Expanding operations in Ghana

This development enables a broader product selection, faster delivery, and increased convenience for customers. Fiacre N’Guessan, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Jumia Ghana, said, “The increased space and advanced infrastructure will also allow us to streamline our operations, improve order fulfillment, and deliver an even better shopping experience for our customers.”

The new warehouse represents a significant investment in Ghana’s e-commerce sector, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

The facility is fully operational in time for the Jumia Black Friday campaign running from November 1 to November 30, 2024. This sales campaign is expected to be a powerful platform for local businesses to reach new customers, boost sales, and foster job creation. Jumia’s investment underscores its commitment to the growth of e-commerce in Africa, positioning itself as a key player in the market while providing substantial support for local entrepreneurs and businesses.
