My go-to simple SEO tactic to implement to increase organic traffic is to optimize subheaders. Too many times, I’ve seen websites not use H2 tags for subheaders, but rather just bolded text. Content, especially long-form articles and blog posts, should be broken up by H2 tags that support the target keyword for the page. H2 tags should be able to stand alone and they should align with what questions or specific topics people are searching for related to your target keyword. A great place to find H2 tags ideas is Google search results for your target keyword. Check out the “People also ask” or “People also search for” sections to see what questions people are asking related to your keyword. Boom, use those as H2 tags.

Optimize Collection Pages

Most eCommerce stores ignore or under-optimize collection pages. These pages are a potential gold mine! Find Untapped Keywords

Keyword research allowed me to increase organic traffic.

One of my favorite ways to find untapped keywords is via Google Search Console.

On the “queries” tab, there are plenty of queries your site is already ranking for. All you need to do is search for a keyword you haven’t covered yet, and write a great article around it. Since you’re already ranking for it, if you write optimized and quality content around it, it will be easier to rank for that specific keyword.

Another way is via Ahrefs. Take one competitor site, then access the keywords they are ranking for. Then, I like to set “position” to 0-10, “volume” to 0-250, and “KD” to 0-30 to find profitable queries you can use to write great pages around them and steal organic traffic from your competitors.

Since most of my clients are using WordPress, the simplest optimization hack that I use is installing the Internal Link Juicer plugin.

What this plugin does:

  • Automates internal link building.

In theory, adding videos and images could increase the page loading time—decreasing the page’s SEO value.
