Apple is set to release iOS 18.3, a major iPhone update, in the coming days. The update will bring several new features and improvements to the iPhone. One notable change in iOS 18.3 involves Apple Intelligence’s notification summaries.

Apple faced issues with some incorrect notification summaries, leading to dissatisfaction among news organizations.

As a result, Apple is suspending two specific kinds of summaries for the News & Entertainment category, with improvements planned for a future update. The Settings app will now display that the Notification Summaries feature is in beta, potentially containing inaccuracies.

During setup, Apple will include a warning: “Summarization may change the meaning of the original headlines.

Double check important information.” Summaries will appear in italics, and users will be able to disable summaries directly from the lock screen within each app. iOS 18.3 will also bring changes to the Camera app.

The AE/AF lock toggle on iPhone 16 series will be renamed to Lock Focus and Exposure for clearer functionality. When editing PDFs, a new feature will alert users that cropped areas are not removed from the PDF.

Additionally, Messages will add a Genmoji entry to the + button, making it easier to create personalized emojis. Apple typically releases its software updates on a Monday or Tuesday if possible. Assuming the update is set for this month, the release will likely be on Monday, Jan.

This change will apply to devices that support Apple Intelligence, including the iPhone 15 Pro and later models, iPads and Macs equipped with the Apple Silicon M1 chip or newer, and the latest versions of the iPad mini.

During the onboarding process for macOS 18.3, new or upgrading users will find Apple Intelligence enabled. To disable the feature, users need to navigate to the Apple Intelligence & Siri Settings pane and toggle off Apple Intelligence. The update reflects Apple’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user experience with AI, though it also acknowledges the potential for inaccuracies, offering users the option to switch off these features if they prefer.
