The New York Times’ Bits blog reported that spam is back on the rise (per Google’s Postini division) following the shutdown of an ISP that allegedly powered spambots. I have noticed the increase in spam by reviewing my e-mail filter every morning — what had once held 20-30 messages now often holds more than 70.
One hopes that consumers understand the difference between marketing e-mails and spam e-mails when reading this news, and the steps that e-mail marketers take to ensure that their messages only reach those that want them.
