Proving that Barack Obama is willing to market himself using any channel, the Seattle Times and other sources report Obama is using in-game advertising in a new Xbox 360 racing game from Electronic Arts called “Burnout Paradise.” The billboards in the game feature a picture of Obama and a URL to the candidate’s “Vote for Change” Web site. According to the article, the in-game ads are running in 10 states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and Wisconsin — for longer periods in the bigger states. An Electronic Arts spokesperson says these kinds of ads have only been around for about 18 months.
