With nearly 1.5 billion people on Facebook and Twitter, it’s no surprise that brands will be using social networks to maximize sales during this holiday season. Twitter has already started introducing commerce products that go beyond simple marketing and brand awareness. Facebook has also been testing a commerce component, but we still don’t know if that will be available in time for the holiday season.
According to research from social media marketing platform Offerpop, 67% of surveyed marketers plan to increase their social media spending, with the bulk of it going towards Facebook. However, the breakout star of the social commerce world might just be Instagram, which also offers a direct buying option on its platform (albeit indirectly through an integration with Curalate)
