Who it is: Lisa Bacus, named to the newly created position of Global CMO at Cigna, a health insurance provider
What’s her role: She is charged with integrating the company’s marketing organizations into a single global marketing team and working to strengthen the worldwide brand.
Where was she prior: Bacus was most recently EVP and CMO of American Family Insurance. She also put in more than 20 years at Ford Motor Company, where she was head of global marketing strategy and director of global market research.
Why was she appointed: “Lisa’s understanding of customer insights and analytics will help Cigna deepen our engagement with current and future customers and help us continue to build our global brand,” says CEO David M. Cordani.

Who it is: Steven Wilhite, named CMO and EVP of Medidata Solutions, a provider of cloud-based solutions for the life sciences industry.
What’s his role: Wilhite will be responsible for all global marketing activities for the company.
Where was he prior: He has held senior marketing and executive leadership roles at companies including Apple, Volkswagen, Nissan, and Hyundai. He also served as CEO of Jumpstart Automotive Group.
Why was he appointed: “Our market is at an inflection point in adopting Medidata’s platform, and Steve’s insights and expertise will be invaluable as we grow our business,” says chairman and CEO Tarek Sherif.

Who it is: Drew Sheinman, hired as CMO of Breeders’ Cup Ltd.
What’s his role: Sheinman will direct the marketing, business development, sponsorship sales, television, digital media, and communications initiatives for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships of horse racing.
Where was he prior: Sheinman was previously director of sports marketing for Coca-Cola and VP of marketing for the New York Mets. He has also served in marketing leadership positions with the Baltimore Orioles and Madison Square Garden.
Why was he appointed: “Drew’s track record as a creative force, and his sports marketing and event expertise, will be a terrific asset to the Breeders’ Cup and the global reach of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships,” says president and CEO Craig Fravel.
