Marketing and promotions agency The Marketing Arm tapped Tom Edwards to be its new VP of digital strategy, effective immediately, said The Marketing Arm PR representative Chris Anderson.
In the newly created role, Edwards will work alongside Jeff Erickson, The Marketing Arm’s VP of digital engagement. Together they will lead a “large team of digital marketing specialists,” said Anderson. Both Edwards and Erickson report to Nowell Upham, EVP of consumer engagement.
Edwards will help plan, implement and measure digital solutions across multiple channels and work to integrate those solutions with existing strategies.
“Most of our activities and programs now include some digital element, whether it’s mobile, online or social, and it was becoming more and more important for us to have someone there to help with strategy and how it all comes together,” Anderson said. “He and Jeff will probably touch 90% of the campaigns we’re working on.”
Edwards comes to The Marketing Arm from digital agency Red Urban, where he formulated strategies for digital, social and mobile campaigns as SVP of digital strategy and emerging technology, Anderson said.
Upham was already familiar with Edwards’s work, as Red Urban and The Marketing Arm are both Omnicom shops.
“Tom is a known quantity, so this just made sense,” Anderson said.
