Email deliverability firm Return Path acquired email technology company OtherInbox, the company said on Jan. 10. The acquisition closed in late December, said Return Path CEO Matt Blumberg, who declined to disclose terms.
“For our clients, we’re now going to know even more about how end users interact with their email, and we’ll be able to provide them with new data about that. The data from OtherInbox will certainly enhance the email reputation database we already have,” Blumberg said.
OtherInbox’s Organizer product segments emails from online retailers and social networks for consumers who use Google’s, Yahoo’s or AOL’s email services. The company also markets an Unsubscriber product.
OtherInbox will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Return Path. The company’s founder and CEO Joshua Baer reports directly to Blumberg as a member of Return Path’s executive committee.
All OtherInbox employees are being retained and will continue to work out of the company’s Austin, Texas, office, Blumberg said.
