Beauty products company Clearasil has launched a Facebook sweepstakes as part of its global “Rock Your Skin” advertising campaign.
The company is encouraging consumers to “like” the Clearasil Facebook page for a chance to win an autographed Gibson Melody Maker Les Paul guitar. The guitar features autographs from John Legend, LeAnn Rimes, Samantha Ronson and other musicians who participated in the annual Lollapalooza festival, which was held earlier this month in Chicago.
“We know that music plays an important role in the lives of many of our young-adult consumers, and the Lollapalooza music festival seemed like the perfect way to merge music and the Clearasil brand,” said Kevin Harshaw, marketing director of personal care at Clearasil’s parent company Reckitt Benckiser Group, via email. “With the launch of our guitar sweepstakes, we can keep the experience going.”
By entering the contest, consumers allow Clearasil to post status messages, notes, photos and videos to their Facebook wall. Consumers must enter their email address, ZIP code, date of birth and gender to enter, and they can opt-in to future Clearasil promotions as well. Facebook can access names, profile pictures, genders, networks, user IDs and lists of friends for all participants.
Asked if data would be gleaned for remarketing, Harshaw said the company is “collecting email addresses so that we can contact the winner at the conclusion of the sweepstakes.”
Five runners up will also receive a prize pack of assorted Clearasil products. The sweepstakes will run through September 9.
Harshaw would not reveal the budget for the sweepstakes nor would he specify whether the company worked with an agency. Clearasil has recently worked with agency Euro RSCG Worldwide, according to media reports.
