Adknowledge announced July 22 it has acquired KITN Media, owner of Super Rewards, a virtual currency platform for online games and social network applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Scott Lynn, CEO of Adknowledge said this deal, its sixth acquisition in two years, is its largest acquisition to date.
The Kansas City, Mo-based ad network said the deal combines the KITN’s Super Rewards platform with the Adknowledge’s technology expertise, deep pockets and reach to enable it to offer a full set of social advertising solutions to advertisers.
Lynn said Super Reward’s ability to monetize social media is what won him over. “If you think about the growth in online advertising, it’s been primarily driven by social media,” he said. “Even though it’s growing rapidly, it is very difficult to monetize. Super Rewards is the first company we’ve seen monetize social media in a big way.”
Adknowledge currently partners with more than 1,200 developers to deliver banner ads on social networks through its sales operations in the US, the UK and Australia.
Lynn said his company works with 50,000 advertisers currently “We give advertisers options beyond Google and Yahoo,” he said.
