Media and marketing services agency Maxus, part of WPP’s GroupM, was awarded the media responsibilities in the US and the UK for Powermat, a wireless charging product. The agency will handle strategic planning, implementation and digital responsibilities for the account after a multiagency review, and work will commence with the product’s launch this fall through a multimedia marketing campaign.
The new product line will be available for purchase in retail stores in late 2009. Its proprietary technology is based on a new energy distribution process that enables wireless charging for devices including Blackberrys, iPhones and iPods, as well as laptop computers.
“We chose Maxus because we wanted a dynamic and innovative agency that could deliver media in line with the breakthrough nature of Powermat,” said Beth Harrison Meyer of Powermat, in a press release. “We feel confident that we will accomplish our goals and successfully establish Powermat in both the US and UK marketplaces.”
