Certified Oil launches loyalty card program

Ohio-based Certified Oil Co. has launched a new loyalty program called “Certified Savings.”

The three-tier program debuted in late December and is being rolled out to all 140 of Certified’s gas stations and convenience stores in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky this year. Certified Savings is card-based, but members are also encouraged to register their e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers to receive special promotions.

First-tier members receive product discounts and points that are redeemable for free merchandise, gift cards and gas discounts. Each gallon of gas purchased earns five points, and each dollar spent in stores earns 10 points.

The second tier gives members an extra two-cents-per-gallon gas discount. To join tier two, customers have to register their debit cards for Certified’s Automated Clearing House, a payment program that allows the company to automatically withdraw funds from the cardholder’s account.

In the third tier of Certified Savings, members earn a 3 cents-per-gallon gas discount when they pay with cash. All members are automatically enrolled in Certified’s club programs, which can earn them free coffee and other items.

Representatives of Certified Oil could not be reached for comment as of press time.
