Overstock.com said this week that a third-party payment integration feature would be ready for use for its auction platform November 3, when PayPal and Google Checkout will become available payment methods on the Overstock Auctions platform.
“We’re making an investment in our auction site,” said Doug Minnick, director of auctions for Overstock.com. “We’ve been in touch with our seller community and heard the cry for this.”
He said the site does not plan on charging its sellers for these options.
At this point, a shopper would not be able to make purchases from multiple sellers and combine them on one invoice.
Minnick said further plans for upgrading Overstock’s auction platform are forthcoming, and the company would seek a dialogue with sellers on those plans via a community forum on the Overstock Web site.
DMNews previous reported that online auction giant eBay has said that it will no longer allow third-party payment options such as Google Checkout on its site.
