Employment Screening Journal debuts

PreemploymentDirectory.com has launched the Employment Screening Journal, an annual title catering to hiring managers and human resources workers.

The first issue, unveiled at the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM) conference in June, is ad-supported and includes a special section, the 2008-2009 Background Screening Industry Buyers Guide. Like its parent Web site, the Employment Screening Journal focuses on background screening for potential employees.

“The Employment Screening Journal is intended to help HR managers, talent acquisition managers and hiring managers be aware of the latest policies, procedures and screening tools that are available to help them select employees,” said W. Barry Nixon, president of PreemploymentDirectory.com. “This really is to give a more specific focus on screening tools because the typical HR magazine just touches on those once in a while. It’s a critical subject right now because there are talent shortages.”

The Journal‘s primary audience is composed of HR managers, employment managers and security managers in all industries. Nixon said the magazine would be sent to attendees of the SHRM conference, clients of his consulting practice, and those who sign up for the Journal on PreemploymentDirectory.com. He will also promote the magazine during a speaking tour later this year and is considering purchasing specialty lists.

So far, 2,000 copies of the Journal have been shipped, and the goal is to distribute 20,000 copies within the year. Nixon plans to make the Journal biannual next year, thanks to positive response to this first issue.
