Local.com, a local search engine, announced on December 20 that it had partnered with Citysearch, a local search and directory company that provides reviews and directions to restaurants, events, shops, and services in cities across the US.
“The relationship is significant as it provides Local.com with additional advertiser revenue and content on our site,” said Bruce Crair, president and COO of Local.com via e-mail. Users of Local.com will now have access to more than one million editorial and user reviews, as well as ratings, business coupons and photos from Citysearch, he said.
Initial discussions between the two companies started early this year, according to Crair. “It was logical for two of the leading providers of local information on the Web to work together,” he said. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The partnership also will allow Citysearch to increase its advertiser reach. Local.com and its distribution network, which includes more than 400 regional media sites, attracts more than 10 million visitors a month, according to Crair.
“This relationship allows our merchants to expand their local advertising reach and connect with more consumers, while delivering a consistent message across the local Web,” said Rob Angel, Citysearch VP of media and advertising, in a statement.
