Online research company Hitwise has launched its latest Clickstream report, titled New and Returning Visitors.
It calculates the percentage of new and repeat traffic a Web site receives along with the previous and preceding destinations of site visitors. In its inaugural study, the service found that less than 7 % of the traffic to Facebook during the week ending on October 20 was from new visitors. A new visitor is defined as a user who has not accessed the Web site in the previous 30 days
Marketers can analyze a competitor’s audience segmentation in addition to their own. The service is also recommended for learning the effectiveness of online partners of increasing traffic to a Web site.
The data for these reports is updated daily and available on the top 10,000 Web from the US sample of 10 million users. New and returning data is also available in the UK and Australia markets.
