SPSS, Chicago, plans to begin shipping its SmartScore software development kit, which applies data mining technology to help companies customize interactions at all customer touch points in real time.
The software is used to develop applications that employ the results of data mining, including profiles and affinity and propensity models.
The models are derived from historical and sampled data and score new cases or customers in real time based on available information. The scores can be used as the basis for decisions, including which products and services to present.
The scoring process begins with a model developed in another software application. The model is then exported and deployed throughout an organization for use in SmartScore and can be used in online promotional offerings, fraud detection and risk prevention.
Application use requires a deployment license that costs $50,000 for use on one server or up to 500 desktops.
