Although retail store sales were up only 2.4 percent, Williams-Sonoma saw a galloping 20.2 percent increase in overall catalog sales spurred in large part by consumer interest in its expanding Pottery Barn line. Williams-Sonoma recently increased its Pottery Barn catalog circulation 14.8 percent.
Overall third quarter sales for Williams-Sonoma were up 18.4 percent to $241 million. Weakest performers were Hold Everything and Gardener's Eden.
