Nokia and its digital agency, R/GA, have begun the second of three phases in a global online campaign to promote the launch of the Nokia N82 phone.
“The Urbanista Diaries” campaign began its first phase earlier this year with four bloggers racing around the world while using their GPS-enabled Nokia camera phones to document their trip. Now, through media partnerships, journalists from CNN, Lonely Planet, Wallpaper, National Geographic and others will use the N82 phone to document their daily international journeys and then post these images on a Nokia world map online.
“We wanted to create an engaging and useful online experience that demonstrated Nokia’s integrated GPS and exceptional camera, and not just talk about these features but to show them in action,” said Anthony Wickham, group account director at R/GA, in an e-mail.
R/GAworked with agency 1000 Heads for the blog aspects of the campaign, which began earlier this year. The next phase of the campaign will focus on user-generated content and will launch in the coming months. In the future, consumers can incorporate Nokia widgets into blogs or social networking sites.
