E-mail icon services firm IncrediMail has signed an agreement with to use Google as the default search engine on its consumer homepage service.
The program let IncrediMail users perform Google searches and in turn compensates IncrediMail when IncrediMail users click on sponsored links.
“Search is something that we’ve never had, but it is another way for us to make money. As we make money from these other channels, it allows us to offer our services for free,” said Jeff Holzmann, president of IncrediMail.
IncrediMail is a free service that lets consumers download e-mail icons and backgrounds and now includes a free Google search-enabled homepage. As a user downloads and installs a free IncrediMail product, they are asked to opt in for the IncrediMail MyStart service. In doing so, they are asked to turn their homepage to the IncrediMail MyStart homepage aka the new Google link.
“It improves our metrics and our revenue per search and it solidifies our relationship with Google,” Holzmann added.
IncrediMail has been working with Google’s AdSense program since 2006 but the new deal solidifies a contract between the two firms.
“We reach millions of users each month, and with Google, we are referring our traffic to Google,” added Holzmann.
