Milliron Auto Parts recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, a significant milestone marking the company’s longstanding success in the international automotive salvage sector. The event, hosted by the Richland Area Chamber-Economic Development, was graced by local business leaders, employees, and dedicated customers. Jim McKinney, the company’s owner, led the grand ribbon-cutting ceremony.
McKinney, who began his association with Milliron Auto Parts in 1997, dedicated his success to hard work and the support system provided by the company. His journey, with 26 years of experience, is a testament to the fostering environment at Milliron Auto Parts and emphasizes the importance of relationships in the high-stakes auto industry.
Throughout his time, McKinney has shared advice for success, recommending perseverance, focus, and the influence of esteemed individuals. This year via the company’s Facebook page, he encouraged personal growth, determination, and the value of having trustworthy individuals for support in the journey to reach professional and personal heights.
McKinney assumed the role of sole owner following the passing of Grant Milliron in 2023, but the transition had been planned years prior with McKinney owning a 50% share in the company pre-transition.
Established on Feb. 19, 1954, Milliron Auto Parts specializes in salvaging reusable parts from out-of-service vehicles, the rest disposed of in an eco-friendly manner. With humble beginnings of a $1,000 investment and a plan drawn on scrap paper, the company has grown to house an 80-acre auto salvage yard holding cars from all over the country. Their certified eco-friendly practices embody their dedication to sustainability.
The company’s significant growth inspires owner McKinney, especially the unique business model that allows customers to either purchase parts directly or dismantle parts themselves. This customer-focused approach has been instrumental in the company’s success and continued growth.
During the 70th-anniversary celebration, Richland County Commissioner, Tony Vero, acknowledged the role Milliron Auto Parts has played in shaping Shelby as a community. Expressing admiration for their consistent dedication to quality and service, he extended his gratitude and well wishes for the company’s bright future.
