The first Houston Energy and Climate Startup Week is set to take place from September 9-13, 2024. The event is a collaborative effort among Greentown Labs, Halliburton Labs, and the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and aims to highlight venture capital investors, industry leaders, and international startups in the energy and climate sector.

During the week, various innovative solutions for energy and climate change will be introduced. Participants will have the chance to network with potential investors and share their ideas. Notably, this initiative aims to foster a collective effort to tackle climate change and develop sustainable energy sources. Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI) and several other organisations support this cause.

Startups specializing in energy and climate solutions will have the chance to introduce their technologies to venture capital, private equity, and corporate strategic investors. The program includes panel discussions, speeches, pitches, and dialogues, serving as an interactive platform for these startups.

Brad Burke, the Chief Executive at the Rice Alliance, views this collaboration as a critical step towards making Houston a significant hub for energy futures. Echoing similar sentiments, Timmeko Moore Love from Greentown Labs also hails Houston’s conducive environment for fueling clean energy transitions, thanks to its abundance of engineering expertise, reputable universities, and entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, Dale Winger of Halliburton Labs emphasizes the event’s potential to spotlight proficient entrepreneurs, connecting them with investors and industry professionals to accelerate energy innovation. On the other hand, Jane Stricker, representing HETI, lauds Houston’s progressive strategy in managing the dual issue of rising energy needs and reducing emissions.

Being one of the most culturally diverse cities globally and a significant contributor in the energy sector, Houston is well-positioned to lead in developing transformative energy solutions. This compliments its role as a pivotal contributor to an energy-abundant, low-carbon future. Information about the event registration will be released soon.
