Ami, the French fashion brand, has appointed Carlo Mengucci as its new global marketing and communications director. Mengucci will start his new role on Monday and will be based in Paris, where Ami was founded in 2011 by Alexandre Mattiussi. Mattiussi, who serves as the creative director of Ami, expressed his delight in welcoming Mengucci to the team.

“Carlo is a longtime friend who we are delighted to welcome at Ami,” Mattiussi said. “We will write a beautiful chapter of the house’s history together, with our shared values.”

In his new position, Mengucci will report directly to both Mattiussi and Nicolas Santi-Weil, the chief executive officer of Ami. His responsibilities will include overseeing the brand’s marketing, communications, events, talent management, social media operations, and press departments.

Mengucci joins Ami from Etro, where he held the position of marketing and communications director since January 2019.

Prior to that, he worked as the PR director for the Aeffe Group, handling public relations for brands such as Moschino, Alberta Ferretti, and Pollini.

Mengucci also has previous experience working for Roberto Cavalli. The appointment of Mengucci comes during a period of reorganization within Ami’s marketing and communications departments. In October, Marie Montiglio, the former head of global press, left the company.

Last summer, chief marketing officer Samy Cheddadi also departed from the brand. Ami has experienced significant growth since its founding by Mattiussi in 2011. In 2021, the brand received a boost when Sequoia Capital acquired a majority stake in the company, with the aim of further expanding Ami’s global presence.

Mattiussi, who has previously worked at renowned fashion houses such as Dior, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs, was awarded the prestigious ANDAM Fashion Award in 2013.
