Apple loses mobile ad chief to VC firm

Apple VP of mobile advertising Andy Miller will leave the tech-sector giant to join venture capital firm Highland Capital Partners.

Miller will serve as general partner at Highland and work from the firm’s Menlo Park, Calif., office. He will focus on establishing partnerships with mobile and technology companies, according to a statement from Highland.

Apple and Highland did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

Miller oversaw Apple’s mobile advertising product iAd while at the company. Prior to joining Apple, Miller was CEO and cofounder of mobile advertising company Quattro Wireless, which Apple bought last year.

Since launching iAd in 2010, Apple has reduced the initial $1 million price by up to 70% for some advertisers, according to Bloomberg.

Earlier this year, Rebecca Van Dyck, senior director of worldwide marketing and communications at Apple, left the company to become global CMO of Levi’s
