Boston Globe Media will launch a free women’s interest magazine named Lola on November 16.
Lola, Boston Globe Media’s third niche magazine to debut this year, will have a first print run of 45,000. It will be printed monthly starting January 1, 2008.
Copies of Lola will be placed in 800 locations in and around Boston. City distribution locations will include female-focused businesses such as salons and day-care centers as well as distribution boxes attached to 100 Boston Globe boxes around the city. The magazine will also be distributed along commuter routes and in select locations in Cambridge and Brookline.
Boston Globe Media will advertise heavily for Lola. The campaign includes front-page notes on sections of the Boston Globe newspaper, ads in Boston Globe and Metro, and a large presence on Boston.com. Targeted subscribers to Boston Globe will also receive Lola as an insert.
Editorial content in the magazine will focus on entertainment and lifestyles in the Boston area. It will include shopping guides, readers’ tips, volunteer opportunities and restaurant reviews.
A full-page ad in Lola is priced at $2,650.
Boston Globe Media publishes the Boston Globe, Boston.com, GlobeDirect and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. The company launched niche magazines Design New England and Fashion Boston earlier this year.
Boston Globe Media is owned by the New York Times Company.
