Buybuy Baby, a popular retailer for new parents, is closing all its physical stores and shifting to an online-only business model. The company announced this decision as part of a “strategic reset” to adapt to the changing retail landscape. The closure will affect all remaining Buybuy Baby locations, including the last store in Connecticut at 1433 New Britain Ave, West Hartford, CT 06110.

The company’s website states, “With this shift, we’ve decided to close our physical stores by the end of this year. We understand this may be disappointing news, and we want all our customers to know this wasn’t a choice we took lightly.

This announcement comes roughly a year after Dream on Me Industries purchased the brand’s intellectual property and trademark rights following Bed Bath & Beyond’s bankruptcy in 2023. Dream on Me Industries had initially planned to reopen 11 stores, including the Scarsdale location in New York, with the possibility of expanding to 100 stores over three years.

As part of the closure, Buybuy Baby offers discounts of up to 30 percent storewide.

Buybuy Baby moves to online-only

Gift cards will be accepted in stores through October 31, 2024, and will only be redeemable online after that date.

Registries will remain available on the company’s website, and the customer service team will contact customers regarding any pending furniture orders. The shift to an online-only model aligns with the evolving retail landscape and economic climate. Buybuy Baby focuses on providing an exceptional online shopping experience based on customer and partner feedback.

The closure of Buybuy Baby’s physical stores coincides with Beyond Inc.’s $40 million investment in the Container Store Group to relaunch some Bed Bath & Beyond products. These products will be showcased in sections within Container Store locations, targeting kitchen, bath, and bedroom items under a co-branded initiative. Customers are encouraged to visit the company’s website for real-time updates on store closings and new offers as Buybuy Baby navigates this new chapter in its business.
