Mark Donovan, the president of the Kansas City Chiefs, recently addressed rumors that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship is a marketing strategy. During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Donovan stated that the couple’s romance is entirely authentic, even if it has benefited the Chiefs organization. “I’d love to say that it was a marketing strategy, but it is an authentic relationship,” Donovan said. “And we’re happy to have it, and it’s been nothing but good for us.”
Donovan responded to questions about the increased attention surrounding the NFL following the high-profile relationship between the Chiefs tight end and the pop superstar. He emphasized that Swift is a genuine fan of the team. I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and its impact on us is that Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom,” Donovan added.

“She’s an authentic fan, and that matters to our fans and our fan base, and it matters to us. We try to respect that.”
Some online theorists have suggested that Kelce and Swift’s relationship could be a publicity stunt.
In September, Kelce’s representatives at Full Scope PR denied such rumors, calling an unverified document suggesting the relationship was fake “entirely false and fabricated.”
“We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents,” Full Scope PR stated at the time. This wasn’t the first time Donovan clarified that Swift is a genuine Chiefs fan. In a September interview, he explained how the organization has taken steps to respect both Swift and the couple’s privacy, acknowledging the unique attention Swift brings due to her substantial fanbase.
Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in October 2023, which only heightened the buzz around the couple and their affiliation with the Chiefs.
