ChoicePoint and RentBureau have formed a partnership designed to enhance ChoicePoint’s Resident Data screening and collection service.
RentBureau will connect ChoicePoint to its regularly updated online database of rental payment histories. This information is derived from multifamily building owners and managers nationwide. ChoicePoint will link this data to its Resident Data database to provide payment information to property owners screening prospective renters.
Resident Data clients will be able to screen resident applicants using RentBureau’s National Rental Data Exchange, a database of nearly three million records. Clients can overlay their own leasing criteria when using the NRDE.
Choicepoint executives expressed hope that adding RentBureau data to Resident Data databases would add depth to clients’ knowledge about potential renters.
Rental payment records currently available to RentBureau’s member property owners and managers will be made available via the Resident Data database. RentBureau’s current data partners include Equity Residential, BRE, Julian LeCraw & Co. and Post Properties, among others.
Atlanta-based RentBureau’s data is extracted from software such as Yardi, AMSI, RentRoll and MRI and is updated every 24 hours. Information available in the National Rental Data Exchange, RentBureau’s proprietary database, is given free-of-charge to members.
ChoicePoint, located in Alpharetta, GA, began as a fraud- and risk-reduction firm, providing data to the insurance industry. The company now provides technology, software, information and marketing services to businesses, government agencies and nonprofits.
