Cisco has collaborated with Oracle to develop Reliable Datagram Sockets.
The new acceleration protocol makes Oracle Real Application Clusters more scalable. Clusters spread out a single database over multiple servers to speed processes and protect against crashes. With the Reliable Datagram Sockets, the clusters will be more flexible and better-suited for modular growth.
The two companies have also been working on integrating Cisco application delivery and storage networking with Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications 11i. The collaboration will work with Cisco’s Data Center 3.0, helping customers create next generation data centers.
Cisco and Oracle have worked together before. Most recently, three Cisco applications were tested and validated to be used across multiple Oracle product families. Cisco WebEx has also begun offering Oracle’s Siebel CRM On Demand Service.
Founded in 1984, Cisco specializes in networking technology. The company is based in San Jose, CA.
