In its second agency acquisition of the year, interactive marketing firm Definition 6 has acquired Leach Communications, a New York-based PR firm.
Definition 6 bought the firm to add an additional PR, strategic communications and social media marketing element to its offerings, said Michael Kogon, founder and CEO of Definition 6. The deal was announced December 15.
“We don’t see PR instead of social or instead of interactive, we see them as complementary disciplines,” he said.
Alfred Leach, founder and president of Leach Communications, will lead Atlanta-based Definition 6’s PR and communications discipline. No layoffs will occur as a result of the deal, but Leach’s employees will move from their offices to Definition 6’s New York location, said Kogon.
The Leach Communications brand will be absorbed into Definition 6, he said.
Kogon declined to discuss financial terms of the deal.
In August, Definition 6 acquired Creative Bubble, a New York-based video production company.
Definition 6 this summer secured up to $15 million in private equity funding and announced its plans for expansion through both organic growth and the acquisition of two to three agencies by the end of 2010.
Kogon said on December 15 that “if anything, that number will increase.”
Definition 6 counts La Quinta Inns & Suites, Coca-Cola, VeriFone and Cox Enterprises among its clients. Leach Communications had worked with The New York Times Co., IMD Business School and Fast Company.
