DMA Urges Members to Write Senate
In an attempt to get the Internet Tax Moratorium legislation addressed before the end of this Congressional session, the Direct Marketing Association recently sent out a “Washington alert” to many of its members asking that they write their Senators requesting support of the approval of bipartisan proposal (S.1888), which would establish a three-year tax moratorium on Internet sales, access and service charges.
The proposal also would create a commission — containing an equal number of e-commerce and government revenue officials — that would recommend a taxation policy for the future. The DMA thinks that another tax moratorium bill supported by the National Governors Association would “sneak in the back door a hidden sales tax on all types of commerce on all types of media.”
