Euro RSCG 4D Discovery acquires Congruent Media

Euro RSCG 4D Discovery, an analytics, behavioral marketing and CRM agency network, has acquired Internet marketing and interactive design shop Congruent Media. Terms of the deal, announced August 23, were not disclosed.

Euro RSCG 4D Discovery absorbed Congruent, its 15 employees and its Baltimore office as part of the agreement, reached last month. Dawes and Jeffrey Rudolf, who cofounded Congruent in 2003, have joined Discovery as SVP of digital and SVP of digital technology, respectively. Discovery is the North American data analytics, CRM and behavioral marketing agency network of Euro RSCG Worldwide.

“They’ve got great talent,” Discovery CEO Clive Maclean said of Congruent. “They’ve been doing some really nice work. They have some particular capabilities in the mobile area. One of them is a proprietary mobile couponing software that they developed. They have increased our horsepower and bandwidth in the digital area.”

Discovery will assume marketing and creative responsibilities for Congruent’s clients, which included Johns Hopkins University, Speakman Company, Pollard Banknote Limited, Signs by Tomorrow and Hurricane Grills & Wings.

Dawes said joining Euro will give his team greater opportunity.

“Joining a large network like Euro and bringing those core digital capabilities to the flagship client roster that Euro has, is a great opportunity for everybody involved,” he said. “Now everyone gets to work on this A-plus stage that Euro’s in.”

Euro RSCG 4D announced earlier in August that it also had acquired Indian SEO and marketing firm Acmic Digital. The deals are not part of a larger acquisition strategy, said Maclean.

“Where we particularly have areas of expertise, if we’re either looking to bolster or acquire, we’ve been looking at opportunities, and this was one of them,” he said.
