Digitas Worldwide CEO Laura Lang has named Glenn Engler president of the agency’s Boston headquarters, replacing Torrence Boone.
In May, WPP hired Boone as CEO of Project Enfatico, a new global agency formed by WPP for Dell in December.
Engler first started working at Digitas in 2000. Most recently he was EVP, leading the agency’s General Motors and XM Satellite Radio accounts. In his new position, he will continue to lead those accounts and will also be responsible for Digitas’ Boston, Detroit and Atlanta offices, the agency said.
“I think the agency is at a really neat time,” Engler said when reached by phone today. “I think so much has changed in the last two years with Publicis,” he said. Following the Paris-based media group’s acquisition of Digitas, the agency has grown to from a couple of offices in the US to six, and from one to 16 offices internationally, he said.
“I think at this moment, the agency has grown up in terms of the eyes of partnerships with our clients as digital has become more and more important, and clients and companies look to connect their products and services with consumers,” Engler said.
“It’s obviously a challenging time in the global economy,” he added. “I think what we’re seeing more than ever is that our clients need quantifiable marketing that connects to consumers — and we’re just energized to be their partners.”
Before joining Digitas eight years ago, Engler was a senior partner at CDI and Mercer Management Consulting. While at CDI, Engler first started working with General Motors on consulting work.
“I have worked with General Motors at Digitas and prior for about 13 years now,” Engler said. “I have a very special relationship with General Motors and it’s a really important client for our agency in the US and globally,” he said.
