Google adds magazines to Book Search

Magazines will now be available on Google Book Search.

Google will provide access to current titles as well as archives in a
partnership with publishers to begin digitizing millions of articles
from magazines ranging from Popular Mechanics to Ebony.

Users can browse by magazine cover or search for specific articles.

Google noted in its official blog that initiating a search for “Hank Aaron pursuing Babe Ruth’s record,” for example, would produce a link to a 1973 Ebony article. Useres would be able to reach the article in full color and in its original context.

“Over time, as we scan more articles, you’ll see more and more magazines appear in Google Book Search results,” according to the blog post by Google software engineer Dave Foulser. “Eventually, we’ll also begin blending magazine results into our main Google.com search results, so you may begin finding magazines you didn’t even know you were looking for.”
