Google, Yahoo and MSN/Windows Live Search top Nielsen Online’s top US search providers report for September 2007.
According to Nielsen, in September Google had almost 4.0 billion searches representing 54% of all queries conducted during the period.
Yahoo Search saw 1.4 billion or 19.5% of all searches for September and MSN/Windows Live Search had 890 million searches with 12% of all searches.
AOL Search saw 444 million representing 6% of all searches, and Ask.com Search had almost159 million for 2.2% of searches in the US.
My Web Search marked almost 62 million at 0.8%, Comcast Search almost 39 million showing 0.5% and BellSouth Search 35 million at 0.5%, while SBC Yellow Pages Search had 29 million searches at 0.4% of all US searches in September and My Way Search saw 26 million at 0.4% of searches.
Recently firms such as Forbes.com and CondeNast.com have questioned Nielsen metrics against their own in-house metrics, finding much higher results in their own measurements, a tricky issue for advertisers, since these figures are key in deciding where advertising dollars go.
