DRTV media firm Gotham Direct has opened an office in London, agency president Greg Messerle said July 20. The four-person office will help the agency expose US clients to European markets and attract European clients that want more exposure in the US, he said.
“One third of what we do is global,” said Messerle. “For the last two years, we’ve been examining whether to have a second office outside of the US. We looked at Shanghai, Singapore, Paris and London. We decided to prioritize Europe first, where the majority of our [international] billings are.”
The London office, which has a media planner, analytics practitioner, media buyer and media director, will ultimately have a combination of staff native to both the UK and US, said Messerle. All staffers in the London office were previously UK-based, he said.
The agency is also planning to open a Shanghai office next summer.
“We’ve done preliminary due diligence for Shanghai,” said Messerle. “In Q1 2012, we’ll do in-market due diligence so that by summer we can pull the trigger.”
The New York-based agency’s client roster includes M&Ms, Equinox Fitness Clubs, Chiquita and 1800 Tequila.
