GreenLine Mobility has partnered with Flipkart to deploy 25 LNG trucks for the e-commerce firm’s delivery operations. The trucks will be integrated at Flipkart’s fulfillment center on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The LNG trucks are part of an effort to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability in the logistics sector.

Each truck is equipped with a 46 ft container, offering a capacity of 110 cubic meters. The fleet will primarily serve regional routes connecting the western and northern parts of India.

Deploying LNG trucks for greener logistics

Future plans include expanding to additional routes spanning the north to south and west to south corridors. This initiative complements Flipkart’s existing green initiatives, which include the recent deployment of 10,000 electric vehicles in its delivery network. The integration of LNG trucks alongside EVs underscores a strategic approach to balancing environmental sustainability with operational efficiency.

Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, stated, “The partnership with Flipkart would enable India to advance towards green logistics, ensuring every delivery contributes to a brighter, cleaner future for the nation.”

Hemant Badri, SVP and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & ReCommerce Business at Flipkart, added, “This collaboration highlights our continuous efforts to drive green innovation and support the long-term sustainability of our operations.”

While LNG and EV fleets are crucial for reducing emissions, their widespread adoption requires significant investment in infrastructure and technology. Nonetheless, this marks a significant step towards greener logistics solutions in India.
