HSNi names Ethier CEO of Cornerstone

Multichannel retailer HSNi has promoted Mark Ethier to CEO of its Cornerstone business, with responsibility for maximizing the catalog division’s performance. The company announced the move on October 5.

Ethier was previously HSNi’s EVP and COO, overseeing all aspects of operations across the HSN, HSN.com and Cornerstone divisions.

The Cornerstone business includes home and apparel catalog brands such as Ballard Design, Frontgate, Garnet Hill, Smith & Noble and TravelSmith.

Ethier will continue to report to Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSNi. Prior to HSN, Ethier was SVP of global operations at The Disney Stores. Roxane Al-Fayez, previously president and CEO of Cornerstone, left the company last fall.

Grossman said in a statement that Ethier “has been instrumental in achieving” recent bottom line improvements in the Cornerstone business “despite ongoing sales challenges in the luxury home and apparel categories.”

“We expect that having Mark focus his attention exclusively on Cornerstone will allow us to maximize the performance of these businesses,” she said.  

Last fall, HSN eliminated 75 positions, or approximately 3%, of Cornerstone’s staff.
