With over 8 million social mentions during its broadcast, the MTV Video Music Awards generated plenty of digital chatter, and there was a lot of social media buzz leading up to the event as well. Digital marketing agency Prime Visibility decided to investigate just how much of that buzz influenced the actual awards. The result, not so much. Using Salesforce’s social media monitoring tool Radian6, the agency gathered and analyzed all the social media mentions about the VMAs from May 24th to August 25th when the event was broadcast.
