Here is the news article, written for an eighth grade reading level:
Apple released iOS 18.2 on December 11. The update brings new features and bug fixes to iPhones. One of the new features is Image Playground.
It is a new app that appears on your iPhone’s home screen after updating. Image Playground lets you create custom images using AI. You can generate “fun, playful images” based on text descriptions and photos of people.
All the images are created right on your iPhone or iPad, not in the cloud. To use Image Playground, open the app and choose a starting image from your Photos. You can then customize it using text descriptions.
Pick from various themes, places, costumes and accessories. Apple editors provide suggestions to inspire you. The app lets you create images in two styles: Animation and Illustration.
Image Playground features explained
When you generate an image, swipe through the previews and pick your favorite. The images are not meant to look realistic.
Image Playground is also built into other iPhone apps. You can access it in Messages for easy sharing. It will also appear in Keynote, Pages and Freeform.
App developers can choose to integrate it into their own apps too. iOS 18.2 works on all devices that can run iOS 18. But the new AI features, including Image Playground, only work on newer iPhones.
Those include iPhone 15 Pro and later models. The iOS 18.2 update brings an exciting new way to express yourself with custom images. Have you tried Image Playground yet on your updated iPhone?
