The iPhone SE 4 is set to launch in early 2025 with a price tag under $500. This is a slight increase from the $429 starting price of the current SE model, but the upgrades are expected to justify the cost. One of the most significant changes will be the inclusion of Apple’s first in-house modem.

This means Apple will no longer need to pay Qualcomm for 5G chips, potentially lowering production costs and making the phone more affordable. The iPhone SE 4 is also rumored to feature a larger 6.1-inch display with Face ID, replacing the home button. This would give the phone a more modern look, similar to the iPhone 14.

Camera upgrades are anticipated as well, with a 48MP rear camera and a 12MP front camera.

iPhone SE upgrades elevate mid-tier lineup

While not matching the multiple camera setups of higher-end models, this would be a notable improvement over the SE 3’s 12MP rear and 7MP front cameras.

Under the hood, the SE 4 is likely to sport a powerful chip comparable to Apple’s latest iPhones. This would enable new AI-powered features like enhanced photo editing, greater control over Siri, and advanced text editing capabilities. Other possible additions include USB-C, following Apple’s switch from Lightning to comply with European regulations, and the Action button, which allows users to program shortcuts.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a respected Apple analyst, predicts that the iPhone SE 4 could sell 30 million units in 2025 alone. If true, this would make it one of Apple’s most successful launches in recent years. While nothing is certain until an official announcement, the iPhone SE 4 is shaping up to be a substantial upgrade.

It could bring many features of Apple’s premium models to a more affordable price point, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers who still want a powerful, modern smartphone.
